Since 2002, Song Hau Food Company has signed off – take agreement of farming goods and associated production with farmers through the connective organization of production, cooperatives in the districts and communes in Can Tho, Hau Giang to help farmers produce towards sustainable production and apply technical solutions synchronously to increase productivity and quality, improve the income of farmers, as well as stable quantity and quality the input materials for the company.

The company has signed contracts with reputable seed units in Can Tho City for certified seed sources to ensure the best quality for farmers in the area of materials. Business description: Established in 1972, Thai Binh Seed Corporation is specialized in doing research, selection, production, business, export, import, doing experimental test of seeds, doing business on agricultural material, agricultural machine and construction.

Thai Binh Seed has 12 branches and have been widen over the country, annually distribution tens of thousands ton of high quality seeds in many varieties.

Thai Binh Seed has the most modern infrastructure for doing research, selection and experimental test, production, procession of seed such as two high quality seed processing plants with advanced technology in Europe, capacity of 30.000 tons/year, one rice processing plant, National Standard Laboratory, coded Vilas 110, Researching and development new product center, scale of 172 hectares.

Business description: Holland Water Supply Company Limited (HOWACO) is a local private water supply company (WSC) in Vietnam. The company was established in 2005 with our first water treatment plant (WTP) in Truong Binh commune, Can Giuoc Dist., Long An Province. This milestone was quite unique for a private company among a Government controlled drinking water sector.

Now, Howaco operates the 2 WTP’s Tan Kim and Truong Binh with the total capacity of 6.000 m3/day. The company serves 24/7 save and affordable drinking water to 27.000 people and 3 industrial zones. Creating clean water access for the community improved healthcare and helped the economic growth.

Both WTP’s are designed according to Dutch efficient green ground water treatment technology.

Many people in peri-urban/suburban and rural areas in Vietnam remain lacking access to a sustainable source of drinkable tap water. Local people have instead been using saline water that is often contaminated with chemicals discharged from factories in surrounding areas. They are forced to choose between paying high prices for clean water supplied by vendors from other provinces, or using untreated surface or underground water with serious health risks.

In 2015, with the support of VBCF program, the Company has increased its capacity to 5900 m³/day, supplying clean water to more than 5,000 customers and industrial parks in the region.

Business description: Dai Viet Packaging JSC. is specialized in the production and sales of agroforestry products. The company aims to develop a sustainable canna edulis (arrowroot) production material zone in Thanh Hoa province. Canna production uses more organic fertilizer (burnt ash) and requires less chemical fertilizer and pesticide, which contributes greatly to maintain sustainable of soil as well as to ensure safety inputs for flour processing stage. Canna is an easy growing tree. It is also easy to adapt to external conditions and has high resistance to diseases. Profit of canna production and processing is 2 to 3 times higher than rice production. And it can survive in some harsh condition that a lot of agricultural products cannot.

Farmers in remote area, including ethnic minorities join the business model as canna edulis producers and sell the produces to the Dai Viet for further process. The Company provides farmers with seedlings, production inputs and technical assistance. It is expected that the production and processing of canna not only create jobs for rural households, especially ethnic minority, but also increase in their income, reduce poverty, deforestation and save the environment.

MOI TRUONG XANH

Business description: Moi Truong Xanh Co. Ltd (MTX) was established in 2009 and specialises in products made from composite and recycled materials. Our strategic products are the bio-gas tanks and it’s equipments which are made from recycled plastic materials. Our factory produces 9000 bio-gas tanks each year and the target customers are low-income farmers.

There are about 2.7 million households in Vietnam raising livestock that have the capacity to implement bio-gas digester systems. Our customers are benefitting from a cleaner farm, save energy costs and protect the environment as they don’t need firewood.

We create about 100 jobs each year for the low-income people. Besides, the use of bio-gas saves VND 150.000/month ($7) for each household, which is a significant amount for these families.

Business description: A social enterprise specializing in the manufacturing, distribution and installation of products utilizing naturally provided energy, such as solar devices, clean cookers and fuels.

Solar Serve currently has two core products – parabolic solar cookers and clean cookstoves – and a number of other related products and services (e.g. solar heaters, solar panel installation). For its two core products, Solar Serve’s target markets are rural communities as well as low-income people in cities.

We estimate that each year one of our clean cookers or solar cookers can reduce CO2 emissions by 1.1 MT and can help retain 1.4 MT of trees, while clean cookers obviously still consume fuel and generate some emissions while solar cookers do not.

Our products benefit both the poor and the rich with alternative energies that help them with radical energy exploitation. The business model also provides stable jobs for people with disabilities and local people who produce solar devices in our center.
